Gloomy Day Glimmer

I thought I would post an image that brightens anyone's day (especially during this grey, gloomy day in Ohio). I took this photo on my climb to the top of my first "fourteener" (a mountain above 14,000 ft in elevation). On this trip, I met up with my cousin Casey in Denver over the summer so we could climb Mount Bierstadt. At moments my heart and lungs raced so hard to keep up with the change in altitude that I thought I could have fainted. We made it to the top finally and to my excitement (I am such a nature-nerd) found LIFE! Marmots (like our groundhogs), pikas (indescribable little squealing rodents), and many species of alpine wildflowers such as this one thrived in the extreme habitat. What a delight! What memories have you experienced that you find yourself returning to on days like this?

  1. It is pretty crazy that plants can grow in places that you never really expected. On days like this, I think about the summer before my sophomore year of high school. I know its a huge timespan, but it was a time where everything just felt right in my little world. Plus I had a lot of fun that summer. I don't know why, but I feel like summer has this "mysterious-anything can happen" air to it and I love it.
